Botanical Oils for Skin & Hair ~ Info

Argan Oil Benefits

Argan oil, aka Moroccan Argan oil, is a lightweight oil that is naturally rich in vitamin E, Oleic Omega 9 fatty acid and Linoleic Omega 6 essential fatty acid. Grown organically in Morocco this oil is ideal for dry flaky skin, fine age lines, and dry hair.

Note: There are those with normal and sensitive skin that suffer mild to more severe reactions when using Argan oil, experiencing a rash where the oil has contacted their skin. A search query of 'Argan reaction' in Google will show many results. Due to this, I no longer formulate with this oil, except by special request.

Black Seed Oil Benefits

Nigella sativa (Black Cumin) Seed Oil contains Thymoquinone, an active ingredient in black cumin oil that is well known for its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, acts as a free radical scavenger. Known to promote and inhibit melanogenesis (melanin production). Black cumin oil is conditioning and soothing to skin, and ideal for aging skin, sun damaged skin, psoriasis, eczema, and acne, burns and minor skin infections.

Calendula Oil Benefits

Rosehip Seed Oil Benefits

Organic Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Fruit Oil is a unique oil that is extremely high in essential fatty acids, Omega 3 Linolenic and Omega 6 Linoleic, antioxidants vitamin E & C, and natural retinol (vitamin A). A dry oil, Rosehip oil soaks into the skin easily, and does not leave a greasy residue. A very gentle oil that is ideal for all skin types, acne scars, dry and oily skin, aging skin, wrinkles and premature aging.

Safflower Oil Benefits

Organic Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil. Nature's Safflower oil is high in Linoleic essential fatty acid. Today's modified Safflower is high in Oleic acid and very low in Linoleic essential fatty acid. It was modified decades ago to remain stable on store shelves for long periods of time. Modified Safflower has been known to cause breakouts in some people. Natures Safflower is not known to cause reactions. It is important to use Nature's Safflower for skin care due to non-modification and due to the essential fatty acid content.

With that said, I only formulate with nature's high Linoleic Safflower oil. High Linoleic Safflower has beneficial occlusive properties, acting as a protective barrier on skin to prevent water from leaving skin. Thus helping skin stay moisturized. The soothing and antioxidant properties of Linoleic Safflower oil is ideal for damaged skin, dry skin, aging skin, and inflammation. It is also a wonderful skin conditioning agent.

Sesame Seed Oil Benefits

Sesame oil has been used as a healing oil for thousands of years and is mentioned in the Vedas as excellent for humans. A natural antibacterial oil for common skin pathogens, such as staphylococcus and streptococcus as well as common skin fungi, like athlete's foot, Sesame oil is also known to have natural antiviral and natural anti inflammatory properties.

Sunflower Oil Benefits

Nature's Sunflower oil is high in Linoleic essential fatty acid. Like Safflower oil, today's modified Sunflower is high in Oleic fatty acid and low in Linoleic, to remain stable on store shelves for long periods of time. Modified Safflower has been known to cause breakouts in some people. Natures Safflower is not known to cause reactions. It is important to use Nature's Safflower for skin care due to non-modification and due to the essential fatty acid content.

As with Safflower oil, I only formulate with nature's mid to high Linoleic, which many benefits for skin, and when it is high Linoleic (Omega 6 EFA) Sunflower oil it is ideal for preterm infant massage and baby massage. Linoleic Sunflower contains between 45% to 60% Linoleic (LA) a polyunsaturated ω-6 essential fatty acid (Omega 6), and between 26% and 39% Oleic a monounsaturated ω-6 (Omega 9) fatty acid. Sunflower oil also contains lecithin, carotenoids, and a high Vitamin E content.
